Increasing Consumer Use of Recommended Preventive Services Using eHealth Tools: A Webinar Series

This webinar series is hosted by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), within the United States Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). ODPHP has partnered with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine to present these two events.

Overview

Increasing the uptake of recommended clinical preventive services (for example, screening tests and vaccinations) has the potential to save thousands of lives and improve the quality of life for many more. Yet national estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that only 1 in 4 adults ages 50 to 65 are up to date on recommended preventive services.

Consumer-facing eHealth tools, like myhealthfinder, hold promise for increasing informed decision-making about wellness and recommended clinical preventive services. Join us as we discuss how health professionals can leverage these tools to reach consumers in new ways through the use of application programming interfaces (APIs), content syndication, and the interoperability of electronic health records (EHRs).
