The meeting will be held at The John Edward Porter Neuroscience Center Room 640 in Building 35A on the NIH Main Campus in Bethesda, MD.
Hotel Information:
Hyatt Regency Bethesda
1 Bethesda Metro Center
Bethesda, MD 20814
We have arranged for round-trip shuttle service from the Hyatt Regency Bethesda and the NIH campus for the AMIGOS workshop, along with pre-screening by the NIH security team. Be advised that a portion of this pre-screening process involves the use of a K-9 officer scanning all luggage and bags; please be sure to bring with you a valid state issued I.D. (driver’s license, passport, etc.). Once the entire group is searched, you will aboard the shuttle and be escorted onto the NIH campus. Please note that there will only be one contracted transport shuttle going to the campus each day, and that the shuttle will be departing from the frontentrance of the hotel promptly at 8:00 am on each morning of the AMIGOS workshop. If you realize that you have missed the shuttle, you will have to go through the NIH Gateway Center check in process on your own. The shuttle will also bring AMIGOS participants back to the hotel at the close of the first day of the workshop. Individuals departing immediately following the end of the workshop on the second day, should feel free to bring their bags to the meeting venue, as this will allow for swift and expedient departure to local airports. Information regarding taxi service to the airport will be provided at the workshop.
AMIGOS participants who will not be arriving via the shuttle are encouraged to familiarize themselves with NIH Campus Access and Security policies, which can be found here – http://www.nih.gov/about-nih/visitor-information/campus-access-security. Visitor parking is limited on the NIH Campus, and visitors are encouraged to use MLP-11 (Multi-level parking 11), a 342-space, multi-level underground parking garage. Vehicles parked in MLP-11 are outside of the perimeter security and will not go through vehicle inspection, reducing the amount of time to takes to get on campus. The cost to park in MLP-11 is $2 per hour for the first three hours, $12 maximum for the entire day. This is the same rate currently charged for all visitor parking at the NIH. Visitors parking in MLP-11 should proceed to the Gateway Center to get a visitor badge and either walk or take a shuttle bus to the Porter Building. The Porter Building can be reached using the NIH Campus Shuttle (Red Line), which can be picked up at the bus shelters located outside the exit from the Gateway Visitor Center. The Porter building will be the 5th announced stop.
Due to changes in the Department of Health and Human Services policy, meals can no longer be provided at our meetings. Attendees will be responsible for meals and/or light refreshments on their own at their own cost. The Porter Building has a café and a full service cafeteria directly across from the conference center, and a convenience store a short walk beyond the cafeteria.
