Dr. Richard Bruno is a resident physician in the Family and Preventive Medicine program at MedStar Franklin Square and Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been active in local, state, and national medical and community organizations, serving on the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National Physicians Alliance, MedChi (Maryland state medical society), the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, Sugar Free Kids Maryland, Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland, Friends of Hampden School #55, and Physicians for a National Health Program. He has led workshops, conferences, rallies, and actions for social justice, enabling health care professionals to engage in patient-centered advocacy.
Dr. Bruno’s clinical focus is on nutrition and prevention of chronic disease, with involvement in community public health interventions and policies, including sugary drink interventions at local corner-stores and drafting legislation that became state law. He attained a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, doctorate of medicine from Oregon Health and Science University, and a master of public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
